This Tanto features a carved iron tsuba and damacus blade. It is a a take-down and there are two tsubas to pick from.
I have been working on my hammer and chisel engraving lately and wanted to attempt a carved iron tsuba like the traditional ones. This was super challenging. And felt like I had bitten off more than I can chew for most of the project. It was in an ugly duckling phase forever but I am pretty happy with how it turned out in the end. This took months of working on it, on and off, there are lots of hours here.
The blade is 300 layer damascus that I made with Brad Millman of Black Maple Blades at his shop. It has a nice chatoyance to it. The handle is made of vintage micarta and forest G10, with a copper spacer.
